What we do
Redeem Solutions to Address Water Scarcity
Pilot Interventions
RedeeM will demonstrate nature-based (rainwater harvesting, riparian area restoration, evaporation preventing green infrastructure) and innovative technological solutions (drone monitoring, smart/solar-powered irrigation) to directly address territorial issues that contribute to water scarcity, and provide a blueprint for the replication of each solution in the Programme area.
Water Governance Strategy
RedeeΜ will develop and implement a strategy for climate-informed water governance in Mediterranean rural areas, which operationalises the WEFE nexus approach, namely the integration of governance and management across the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem sectors, through a systematic analysis of the connections and interactions between these components, to optimise water use prioritisation, policy alignment (incl. cross border), and curtail the water-footprint of end-users within the WEFE nexuses.
Transferable Solutions for WEFE Nexus Analysis and Intervention Planning
RedeeM will develop and put in place a framework to map rural Mediterranean WEFE nexuses (i.e., assessing climate vulnerabilities, cross-sectoral interconnections, impacts and synergies), and an implementation toolkit for identifying and applying fit-for purpose interventions to advance the water sustainability of WEFE nexuses.
Result Amplification Strategy Activities
Further to the strategy and the solutions blueprints, RedeeM will:
- Organise nexus dialogue events with high level policy decision-makers to discuss participatory approaches in water governance (i.e., A3.2 plans) and replication in RedeeM countries.
- Organise capitalisation activities in all areas (3 per area) with end-user representatives, public authorities, and managing bodies in the water, food and energy sectors.
- Develop ‘Results Amplification Strategy’ resources (stakeholder platform, serious game, scale up/replication reports) to facilitate the uptake of RedeeM results across the Programme area..
